"Drama Minggu Ini" - Naming of the Coach for Women National Hockey

After K Dharmaraj decided not to renew his contract last year December, then the hunt begins. To be honest, Dharma did well with the Women Team but just because of certain egoistic leader, the renewal was not addressed.

They say had received 23 applications (11 locals and 12 foreigners) and took 9 months to decide today.

This are the Foreigners List listed below:

They must be given an Oscar award for this process of appointment.

And the title of the movie that wins the Oscar is called "Women Asia No 1 in 2026" and directed by Kamal and produced by So Sweet Production.

Many online interviews held and showed the typical Wayang Kulit that a foreigner of high status will be appointed.

Really pity our local media & Nadi Arena that covered this episode since Jan wrote many articles about all the Wayang Kulit towards the announcement but a local is named. Currently, our media personnel are very tolerant people and no longer an entity that plays a check and balance outlook by seeking the right questions and putting the sports on the right track.

Also Pity the DG of NSC attended many online interviews and is a very rare scenario for a DG of NSC to attend interview at NSA's Office.

Even the Technical Director so call Paul Revington is yet to be seen and as usual too many Wayang Kulit. Is he coming to Malaysia?

Finally, Pi Mai Pi Mai Tang Tu approach, reappointment of Mohd Nasihin as the Head Coach of National Women Hockey Team today.

Nasihin was a former National Women Hockey Coach before joining as GK, Assistant Coach and Team Manager for Men's Team.

Best part they said Nasihin will present his plans and given 2 months to come up with it. What is strange, isn't he is appointed due to his submission of his plan, experience and ideas on how to improve the Women National Team.

How come you appoint someone and then ask him to come out of a plan.

Will Nasihin agree to this methodology - They have combined both the women's seniors and juniors into one outfit.

Congratulations and wish him the very best and hope the ecosystem will be well provided and never allow people dictate terms.

If it was supposed to be a local appointment, then they should have appointed Nasihin in January or February. Time wasted and so much of perception sent out to hockey fraternity over 9 months. Finally, a baby is born. Yahoo!

The last International match our National Women played was last year June 2019. This lost of time will haunt you in your preparation, physiology and performance aspects of the National Team.

I think suddenly they realised that someone needs to select a National Women Team as the ongoing Razak Cup W is in action. As usual a decision is made after thoughts.

On another episode, it will be suicidal decision that Lailin will use National Junior team to play in Asian Champions Trophy as part of their exposure before JAC. You must remember that there will be ranking points in play. And don't insult the Senior AHF tournament by sending a junior team and get hammered as Japan, China, India are preparing for Tokyo Olympics. Q: Will Nasihin agree to this as now he is the Head Coach. There must a clear define line between Senior and Junior program with short, mid and long term targets.

Even if you realize in the Razak Cup many teams send their Sukma teams as part of training. After Day 1, the standard between teams are too far and merging both division is not a good idea. There will be massive goal margins between good and a average teams. Even no video referral implemented which is an important tool for any dispute and it will be a good training ground for players and Umpires. But who cares!

Kindly stop the crap of using the ongoing Razak Cup to evaluate the players performance to select a new National Team. My friend, the talent in Razak Cup is depleted badly and the same players will be selected again. And many old players may return again on the list. The standard of this event is very low and lack competitiveness, more so many players has put on weight and struggling to cope the requirements of a high tempo match.

Are you selecting a National Team or International Team? This is the valid question! How to win 2022 Asian Games Gold as promised to the Nation as a basis of your appointment. Dream on...

On the Project Squads, the custodian failed to realize that FIH has decided that Junior World Cup is to be held in every 2 years. As of today, you should already have a Coaching Structure and National Under 18 team in placed for Men & Women to put a challenge for 2023 JWC and the qualifier Jnr Asia Cup may be in 2022 or 2023. This is called forward thinking but Wayang Kulit is the order of the day.

As we all know, they killed the preparation of Project 2021 Squad since 2016. Looks like they have never learn a lesson.

Finally, as a former Selangor Captain - MALULAH Draw with Sabah. Why? you want to know the answer, its easy similar people and approach implemented at Federal and State level. Same People with Same Thinking...Kasi chance due to Sabah election kot...

And to be in Selangor Razak Cup team, one key criteria is you must be "fat"...

How come a paid staff Coach allowed to coach Selangor when others not allowed to play for KL and NS due to employment or part of the system. Double standard betul lah...

  1. Frankly Mike you are one die-hard fan of hockey. You are willing to take the time and trouble to write about Malaysian hockey.

Many of us who once love the game have lost hope in the direction of Malaysian hockey. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to see where the sport of hockey is heading too in the near future. The attrition rate among youth hockey players are ever-increasing and very few taking up the game is the biggest challenge for MHC.

MHC moving in the same direction and hoping to reach the same direction i.e winning the gold medal in Asian Games and qualify for the Olympics with the hope this success will incite interest in youths to take up the sport. It's an old way when today's youth interest has changed with time.

Without understanding the needs of our youths, it's just a matter of time all our artificial surface will be left idle for the birds to enjoy the ground.

It's a tough road ahead for hockey to prosper in Malaysia. Times has changed and we must change with time.

    Thank You.

  3. Many would have wonder how I got my facts that the attrition rate among youth hockey players is high.

Sports are straightforward. You correlate between development i.e 1MAS which will culminate in the Malaysian Hockey League(MHL).

The objective of 1 MAS is to create a bigger pool of quality players for the MHL-a platform to select future national players.

Is MHL growing in terms of quality and numbers of players?

Currently, it is sustaining when former champions like Sapura and KLHC decided not to compete. Thus the players are rope in by other clubs to maintain the superficial equilibrium of the league.

Without a financial fair play rule in place the rich club gets the best players and win the league.

This seems the story line of hockey development in Malaysia.

    Thank You
