There will be a new format established and approved by IOC on the process of qualifying for Paris Olympics 2024.
Malaysia will have two chances or 2 doors to get to Paris Olympics - 2022 Asian Games (only Gold will automatically qualified) or FIH Olympic Qualifying Tournament.
This time the format for FIH Qualifying Tournament is better and allowed greater fair play where 2 events of 8 teams with top 3 from each event qualifies - total 6 quota.
The selection of 16 teams will be made from 22 best teams from Continental and minus 6 (Host & 5 Continental Champions) the balance 16 teams will be divided to 8 to 2 different events using a snake system.

I would agree with this format than previous one where 2 matches decides and based on balloting and seeded based on rankings.
This new format provides min 4-5 matches to qualify - 3 at pool and 1/2 at classifications - SF & F with 3/4. Only top 3 will make it to Paris Olympics. Therefore, performance at Continental Championship is critical and maintaining world ranking is crucial.
