FUTILE MUMBO JUMBO ANNOUNCEMENTS

Since the election last year till today, many announcements and bengkels were held but nothing to be seen implemented on an agreed timeline. Famous words such as Webinar, Workshop, Bengkels, Online Courses and online Interview were the order of the day but it is all futile in implementation.

The fairy tale announcements:

Tun Abdul Razak Cup:

It will be held on mid September but the suicidal decision of only one division were not a right thing to do. The weak State teams like Kelantan, Perlis, Sabah, Kedah, Selangor etc to compete with the rest teams that carries National players. Most weak teams will be using their SUKMA team to participate. The goal difference between teams will be massive. And many teams will have lack of matches and go home early. Teams spending money but doesn't match the returns like playing many matches and the standards are equally divided based on strength of each teams.

The 2 tier division and the true Champion has to play a round robin of 6 matches and Final to be a Champion followed by promotion and demotion of teams between Div 1 and 2. This format is more reliable and more objective for teams.

National Hockey Development Plan (NHDP)

Since the closure of 1MAS Hoki since 2018 and many promises given about new Hockey Development Plan and announcement made but till today there is yet to be seen it is implemented.

The 1MAS Hoki was rolled out within a 6 months from Council approval without time wasting bengkels and ceremonies. It was a very clear from Conceptualization to Implementation stage with a independent Steering Committee overseeing the plan.

Is been more than 2 years and still delayed. The States and hockey is suffering badly at age group development stage.

Next question, who will be heading this NHDP? It is a crucial decision as its government funding and person is key in the success. Make sure he is qualified with experience and modern hockey knowledge with administrative & sports science inputs with a great success profile in Development.

Technical Director

Where is the Technical Director - Paul Revington? Is he in-charged of High Performance or Development of Hockey in Malaysia. If both then is a suicidal and he will be off track from his objectives.

Announcement made that he will start from September (arrive in August) but yet to be seen. Hope the custodian has not put the cart before the horse again which they been famous in doing this before and many announcement were derailed from facts.

National Indoor League

Firstly, I was shocked with the announcement that Indoor League for 3 months from October till December which is longer than current MHL of 45 days. How did they come up with this plan?

Our Indoor is still at baby stage and coming up with this big plan is not appropriate. Should start with age group carnival basis over a weekend and a week National Indoor Championship.

The area of concern is the indoor hockey equipment's, teams need big budget to play weekend league for 3 months, attire cost, players allowance etc. Does the Affiliates have the funds to play in this Indoor League? I doubt it as it will cost 15 to 20k.

To start with, should have got a Title Sponsor of min 200k and use the money to subsidy the teams cost and officials with Umpires cost and if extra thrown in some prize money. On the equipment, buy bulk indoor sticks and teams got an option to use it for matches.

Malaysian Hockey League & Junior Hockey League

The year ends in 4 months time, the dates for next MHL & JHL still in doubt. How teams to plan accordingly. With RMCO extended till December 2020, what is the plan for next years Competition Calendar.

As per your announcement, JHL will be held this year? How and when? Mainly below 19 and is school based teams, are they allowed and what is your SOP etc etc.

To understand full dilemma of Competition, I wrote and read it https://stickwithmike.blogspot.com/2020/08/competition-committee-its-overall.html

National Women Hockey Coach

Now delayed again. First said by end August but failed again to announce it. Since January till to-date still searching. In 9 months a baby could be born and that is how much time taken to search and still in dilemma mode.

Webinar experts and online interviews etc but futile in appointment.

How to win Gold and be Asia No 1 in 4-6 years time when this small facets not managed professionally. The last the women players played International Hockey was last year June. More than a year standstill and wasted time.

They said 4 candidates are keen - 2 Foreigners & 2 Locals? Who is going to fund it? I think it will end up with a local again. They removed previous Head Coach just because he was not playing balls with decision makers.

Too many of wayang kulit announcements made without factual. Enough of perception over reality style of leadership. The sports is bleeding badly from grass-root till High Performance stage.

Latest there is an issue about payment of broadcasting issues and is brewing up fast. Hope not another fiasco that will hinder the image of the sports. We need transparency and accountability in managing the sports.

If you look the above details and all are announced but in reality it is not implemented as announced. The media should play a check and balance on all this announcement and the goalpost is being moving frequently as people loose their sights on the happenings of the sports.

All decision for sure will put a heavy financial burden to NSC or Govt. Massive cost from Technical Director, National Women Coach, National Men Coach and National Hockey Development Plan and High Performance periodization plan, question what is the road-map plan for next 2024 Olympic cycle or just bulldoze all this mega plans without knowing the facts and journey towards success.

Honestly, the sports is off track and clarity of journey is in doubt. All been due for many years and still in the pipeline with massive delays in implementing. It shows the lackadaisical in style of management.

Not forgetting, Selamat Hari Merdeka to all my readers...

COMPETITION COMMITTEE & IT'S OVERALL FUTURE DILEMMA...

Sleep mode (or suspend to RAM) is a low power mode for electronic devices such as computers, televisions, and remote controlled devices.

These modes save significantly on electrical consumption compared to leaving a device fully on and, upon resume, allow the user to avoid having to reissue instructions or to wait for a machine to reboot.

Dilemma is a situation in which a difficult choice has to be made between two or more alternatives, especially ones that are equally undesirable.

This is the real current scenario of the Competition Committee!

As we all know that Competition is a core unit and vital in any sports Association. Basically, you're managing the quality of the products from age groups, domestic to international competitions.

This committee is key as it will dictate the standard of National Teams and impact of sponsorship with establishing a reasonable budget for the implementation phase from subsidies to prize money.

This Committee is always been a crucial one in any success or image of any National Association. That is how important is this Committee, therefore upon appointment of Chairman and members must be properly done and thoroughly selected or else it will sink the whole Association.

Due to Covid19, it is a double sword scenarios, therefore any Association would have come out with different scenarios matching the timeline on the exact dates with taking account of the financial repercussions due to amalgamation of 2 years Calendar into one year and beyond.

For sure they will say, there is a savings this year for next year. Q- have you done the qualitative & quantitative matrix on this upcoming matters and is a real serious one and it will be tsunami test for the Bearers and Committees if no proper plans inplaced.

I believe the members in the Committee is not aware about the future plannings of scenarios. By today there should have been a detailed timeline of scenarios managing the pandemic issues together with FIH & AHF announcements.

As on a yearly basis, they're 3 key components - domestic competition as priority versus international events plus 2 Annual Invitational i.e. Sultan Azlan Shah & Sultan Johor Cup.

Do the members has forward thinking capabilities. You make the judgement based on below available details with taking into account of FIH & AHF decisions:

FIH Events:
- Olympics in July 2021
- FIH Pro Leagueextending Season 2 into the middle of 2021 with Season 3 of the FIH Hockey Pro League will be from September 2021 to June 2022
- 2021 Junior World Cup for W & M
- SASC 2021 - without details & in real trouble to organised - first when & which Teams as top teams having very busy schedule? A real crisis!
- SOJC 2021 - decided on 2 years and well ahead with teams confirming
- Nation Cup - TBC

AHF Events:
- Asia Champions Trophy in March 2021
- 2021 Junior Asia Cup Qualifier for JWC - TBA
- 2021 Asia Cup Qualification to 2023 WC

SEA Games:
Indoor Hockey M&W yet to be decided as a sports in Vietnam Sea Games.

Domestic Tournaments:
- MHL - M & W
- JHL - M & W
- Sukma 2021 in March for M & W
- MSSM - M & W
- Razak Cup - M & W
- National Indoor League - M & W
- Age groups competition - M & W
- Hockey 5's
- Borneo Cup

Note: Not including the State Affiliates & University/MOE competition plan.

National Teams' Periodization Plan:
Next year is a very crucial for Juniors to qualify to JWC. The senior team needs to be top 3 (with India) to qualify to 2023 WC in India.

On top of that for sure there are many international competitions for exposure and selection for M & W National Team & M & W Juniors. Don't worry, no any decision could be made as the appointment are still in quarantine and the "The Foreign TD" again (what happen to our local resources) will be coming in by September to decide the future.

Did the new Foreign Technical Director (TD) and the newly appointed Coach highlighted all this predicaments to relevant decision makers. Or it will be another scapegoat in the makings, when fail again, all can do U-turn and blame the Coaches & TD again but not the decision makers. I have said that currently we have a very weak international squad to be in upcoming 2022 Asian Games & Olympics/World Cup.

This FIH Pro League - extending Season 2 into the middle of 2021 with Season 3 of the FIH Hockey Pro League will be from September 2021 to June 2022 would play a critical impact in the Periodization plan of National Teams towards 2022 Commonwealth & Asian Games.

How to get a chance to play with the top 11 international teams M & W who has a busy schedule in Olympics and FIH Pro League Season 2&3. How to collect World ranking points based on algorithm method in tabulations of world rankings. Does it sound likes  trouble is brewing soon. Does the National Team Management aware of this details. And a new Manager soon, does he well versed with all this shortcomings?

Now is the crunch of the matters that I want to make the points:

Looking at above details, how are they're going to fit in all the above arrangements.

Calendar must be done by looking at all current situation and decision. Here, still at slow snail pace decision making. Please Wake Up asap as crisis is looming fast!

As for the postponement of Junior Events based on age requirements at International & Domestic for sure has an direct impact on the current age of players in State or National Team to participate. Have you all foresee this issues and discussed?

And the pow-wow will occur if the 2021 Jnr Asia Cup is slotted in the first quarter of 2021 which clashes with SUKMA dates. Then the issue will be between National or State as a priority. Big decision to be made. This may disrupt the Jnr Team program again as till today they are having the worst and distorted program since 2017 onward due to high end focus on Senior Team to Tokyo and we failed.

Another critical warning, the Technical & Umpires will be stretched out to maximum as we have very limited TO, Judge & Umpires. Is a cramped calendar is created, we need at least many stadiums and many players will be having massive overlapping of events to participate. The ball boys will be having a very busy schedule too. Another facets, the distribution of the hosts of the events and grants with subsidies. Massive challenge ahead. Could they weather this snowball storm as only time will tell.

Then comes to Return of Investment (ROI) for the sponsors who have pledge their funds. The space and broadcasting airtime will be limited. The sponsors would get very limited ROI, take this view as serious when undertaking the deals.

The National Calendar plays a key decision role to its Affiliates in planning their budget and Calendar. As usual wait and see. The fastest you come up with the detailed Calendar which for me is a 4 years cycle. This Calendar contributes to many spectrum in sports from Funding till the ball boys.

Financial repercussions as many sponsors will do cost cutting measures due to cash flow issues due to pandemic and future in economic is taking a slide. How about the Affiliates funding to support the cramped Calendar with back to back events. Could the Affiliates cope with the expenditure as for sure the amalgamation Calendar would put a strain in your budget and sources of funds.

Do they have all the funds to manage all the above details - technically, spending 2 years money in a year. Looks like the snowball in debts will be seen soon. Also rumors of 100k for each Affiliates which is 1.6million need to be addressed. Honestly the feeling of fear is rising while writing this article.

Q - Where does the Executive Board sit in to manage this crisis with proper planning?

The whole structure from EB to Finance needs to meet urgently to re-look the future plans with taking account of the above details.

But I doubt it as the quality of Bearers and Committee members are not well selected and lack the real management skills to manage the ongoing and any crisis.

As usual, many will call to agree and then don't say I didn't warn you all the caretakers of the sport about this crisis in hand.

Only avenue I have is to highlight this critical matters  thru my blogs and is up to them to manage it.

I have a solution but no point sharing it. May be reboot. Just joking...

Looks like major crisis is coming real soon and it's going to be tough one as we do not have the right person in the right position.

Nothing personal & Good luck to Malaysian Hockey... time will tell whether we will float or sink. Get a life jacket vest on Lazada or Shoppee as the big storm is staring at us with a limited time to come up with a rescue plan.

You need not feel guilty about not being able to keep your sports perfectly balanced. Juggling everything is too difficult. All you really need to do is catch it before it hits the floor. Honestly, just alerting the caretakers well ahead than the upcoming storm.

P/S - To all my readers, thank you for all your support and wishes to save the sports. Been busy and will write when time permits...

R. Vivekanandan - A True Complete Teacher of Malaysian Hockey

R. Vivekanandan or also known as "Cikgu Vive", a true teacher who has a complete profile and successful journey as a Teacher, Hockey Coach & Administrator. He obtained a Bachelor Degree in Sports Science and followed by Masters in Education. He has a teaching career of 25 years. Teaching is the greatest act of optimism.

For a first time, I met Cikgu Vive was in 1989 Champions School Hockey Tournament in USM, Penang where he was Coaching the SMK Cochrane School Team, which they were the Wilayah Champions. His passion for hockey was incredible.

He wore many hats and hold high level of positions in Government agencies. His expertise was in Coaching Outdoor and Indoor Hockey. He started his Coaching career with Kuala Lumpur Hockey Association since 1985 till 2009. Thereafter, he was involved with Coaching Kuala Lumpur Hockey Club in MHL from 2010 till 2012.

Cikgu Vive believes a dream does not become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination, and hard work...

Cikgu Vive produced many State & International players with training & guiding many Coaches  in outdoor and indoor from school level to National Teams.

He is a very friendly and outspoken person but no joking in his training sessions as he is a serious and very objective driven Coach to achieve success. His heavy laughter was his trademark. And his willingness to share knowledge is second to none. He also have a big heart to help or assist any players that needed help.

He always shows concern about Malaysian sports mainly hockey. Till today, he always keep himself updated and his willingness to help sports is always there. But for sure, he is sad that current standards are deteriorating badly at all levels especially in schools.

He said there is a need for a major overhaul in Malaysian sports to reattain back where we belong at International stage. He really hopes that relevant stakeholders will address the plaguing issues.

His Key Profile:

Position in MSN/NSI

1. Manager of Sukan Teras for Hockey (8 core sports) from 2005-2008
2. Head of MSN National Coaching Academy from 2009-2015.
3. Acting NSI Director of National Coaching Academy from 2016-2017

International FIH Outdoor Coaching Courses
2003 FIH KL Development Hockey Coaching Course
2005 Rotterdam FIH High Performance Coaching Course
2006 Hockey Education Coaching Course in Holland
2007 Vienna FIH high performance indoor hockey coaching course
2010 New Delhi FIH High Performance Hockey Coaching Course

International FIH Indoor Coaching Course
In so far to Indoor Coaches with FIH accreditation in Malaysia, there are only 4 Coaches and they are:
1.Teng Cheng Leong 2002 Germany
2.R. Vivekanandan attended in 2007 Vienna Austria (FIH called up to attend 2011 Poland but did not attend due Coaching KLHC in ongoing MHL)
3.Lim Chow Chuan attended in 2007 Vienna Austria
4.V. Sasidharan  attended in 2007 Vienna Austria

Instructor
He was a successful Instructor for Outdoor Level 1 to Level 3 and Indoor Hockey Coaching Courses and was also in-charged of drafting Coaching Syllabus of most sports in Malaysia.

His favorite has always been Indoor Hockey.

In 2009, it was the best years in Malaysian Indoor, as the Women became Asia Champions and as for the Men's which was represented by Sapura players came close to beat the favorites Iran with narrow lost 2-3 and ended as 2nd in Asia.

The winning team was only paid RM15 a day totalling to RM75 but the team's passion and determination was to be Champions and they achieved it in style.

At Asia Indoor Level:

MEN - Total 8 Events since 2008. Malaysia did well in 2008, 2009, 2010 & 2014

WOMEN - Total 7 Events since 2009. Malaysia did well in 2009, 2014 & 2017

Cikgu Vive was also instrumental in establishing the Annual Indoor Piala KP MSN for age group and was held in MSN, Bukit Jalil and it was well participated. After few years, girls category was introduced. Then MHF also organised Annual National Indoor Championship which was held during the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup in Ipoh, Perak.

His research in Indoor in 2009.

The Indoor game was getting its momentum and popular till 2014 and then in 2015 onward, the custodian sidelined the growth of this Indoor with cancelling the Piala KP MSN and National Championship.

And now suddenly, the custodian feels it is important because it is played at SEA Games level and funding availability from Government.

Cikgu Vive has a complete wealth of experience in Coaching outdoor and indoor. Currently, he is retired and enjoying his retirement life with spending time reading books.

This where sometimes is sad that such wealth of experience people are not called in to assist the game anymore. Wasted!

To Cikgu Vive, A hero is born among a hundred, a wise man is found among a thousand, but an accomplished one might not be found even among a hundred thousand men. You are a dying breed in Malaysian sports!

You have done well and your contribution to game of hockey from school to National team will be always remembered. I doubt they could break your Women Asia Cup Indoor Champions record and it may take years or century to surpass it.

He said there are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure.

Cikgu Vive still keeps himself fit by actively playing Veteran Hockey with his Cochrane's buddies.

We wish Cikgu Vive the very best and hope the custodians will recall you for your services...

Thank you again Cikgu Vive and drop by to Hockey Stadiums for matches...

M Jayamaran Former Hockey International - Shows Concern About Hockey At School Level...

M Jayamaran fondly known as Jaya, a former hockey International who shared his views about the status of hockey sports at school level which he says is the core problem that is leading towards poor success at State, National & International level.

Jaya was one of the outstanding hockey player produced by State of Selangor. At age group level, he was very skillful and had a high degree of fitness level. He grew up in Klang and played for Selangor and MPK. His idol was S Sivabalan another great former International and Jaya used jersey No 14 to emulate Sivabalan's pathway.

He was one of the players that could do an overhead on the run and very precise in his passes. His work rate and his intelligence on the field was his speciality.

Jaya played for Malaysia at 1992 Junior Asia Cup, 1993 Junior World Cup, 1993 Asia Cup, 1994 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup, 1994 Asian Games and 1995 Chiengmai Sea Games. He contributed and served well with his former employer Maybank and achieved many success at MHL. He also Captained State Team and Maybank Hockey Club. His leadership was superb and his mantra was "the team is above any individual".

After his active retirement, he had the love and passion  to help out in the grass-root hockey development. He was involved in Highlander Hockey Club Development program ( HHC) - Klang and currently involved in Klang District Hockey Association Development program.

He raised this pertinent matters about hockey at school level:

1. Competition

He argued that currently the district & state inter school competition are held on carnival basis and using modified rules and played on half or 3/4 of pitch sizes. He recalls that those days at least 2 months to win district and another 2 months to be State Champions and overall min of 6 months of hockey was played. As of today, within weeks Champions are made and announced.

2. Quality of School Coaches

He said that MOE is just churning out Coaches without proper basic hockey teaching at grassroot especially in most schools. He said today very rare to see a player who possess full complete basic skills from stopping to flicking. He pointed out nowadays no players hit a ball anymore. He said the introduction level of Coaching is very important as in the long run the impact will decide whether the player will be a successful one.

3. State & District Pengerusi Teknik

His question is straightforward - are they selected based on merit & knowledge of the game. Are they been monitored and access frequently on their activities and performance. Do they get updated on latest modern hockey training and syllabus and rules of the game. Most Pengerusi Teknik at District and State level lack the requirements to manage and implement the sports at its best.

4. State Sports School

He said by establishing the State Sports School, it has taken the competitiveness of other schools and players to compete at actual footing. Also what process of talent identification that is used to select the potential and future stars. He also suggested that State Sports School should engaged some former International or current International to teach the high end international skills especially PC Attack, Goalkeeping and PC Defence etc.

5. PLD - Pusat Latihan Daerah

He said it is not functioning well due to limited budget and qualified Coaches. The quality of players from PLD is mediocre even though they train more and gets more facility support from MOE.

6. Champion Schools & Talent Camps

He said the Annual Champions Schools should be introduced again. And after each Champions Schools, the selectors must select a squad and to attend the Talent Camp on periodically and keep a database to keep following their progress over the years.

7. Selangor HA (SHA) & District Affiliates

SHA & District Affiliates should be doing more in grassroot level. Selangor used to be the bedrock of many great former hockey international and won many National Championship. Those days, if people hear or to play against Selangor, they will shiver but nowadays, the glory is lost and no longer a hub that produces top players or great Coaches. SHA needs to do some soul searching and come up with better short and long term grassroot programs especially in schools.

8. Racial Imbalance

He said we must understand that sports are sometimes influenced by current events and politics. In our country, participation in sports is in a way influenced by race and ethnicity.

According to the Malaysia Racial Discrimination Report 2017 by non-profit social organisation, Pusat Komas, there is racial imbalance of participation in sports. For instance, hockey, football, basketball and table tennis are predominated by certain ethnic groups.

The strong support that we give our national athletes during competitions should not be construed as a sign of unity. All stakeholders must look at this issue seriously.

9. Evaluation

He said when evaluating potential players, School Coaches must look for a certain set of attributes such as:

  • Skill
  • Sportsmanship
  • Speed/Fitness
  • Preparedness/Focus
  • Character
  • Attitude Towards Learning
  • Leadership Quality
  • Competition Ability

10. Standardized Syllabus of Coaching

Jaya's concern is most Coaches do not possess high degree of latest Coaching methodology. Different Coaches teaches different style of Coaching and mostly are not teaching the right way.

He suggested that there should be a Committee combining the Pengerusi Teknik with all the appointed Coaches with State or National Coaching Committee on a quarterly basis to review their Coaching methodology and update on the technical and tactical aspects which is inline with the modern international hockey standards.

With this approach, the Coaching Development aspect will be well monitored and their progress will be seen improving over time. It would also permit all Coaches to use the standardized syllabus as their guide to improve themselves. In this manner the growth of grassroot level will be achieved drastically.

Conclusion

Overall the game is suffering at District and State level. Hope there will be a light at the end of the tunnel if SHA & District Affiliates could address this major issues that is hindering the growth of hockey in schools.

He jokingly said that until this school issues are not sorted out, don't dream of Malaysia to play in Olympic level again. First level to succeed is the grass-root but if "no root how the grass is going to grow". He said with his cheeky smile...

Jayamaran brought enormous of glory to Club, State of Selangor and National. His character of not giving up and fighting for every ball with winning mentality was his forte in his success as a top State & National player.

We hope we could find many more  Jayamaran's in years to come and we wish him the very best in his endeavours with Klang Hockey District Association (KDHA).

All the best M Jayamaran...

PERCEPTION vs PREDICTION - Malaysian Hockey Launches Smelly Farts again...

Food intolerance is a very common cause of bad odor flatulence. Typical conditions that can cause smelly flatulence include lactose and gluten intolerance.

In both of these conditions, the body's inability to break down lactose or gluten causes smelly gas to build up and eventually be released. This is the current scenario in Malaysian Hockey...

Q: Why do farts smell? A: For the benefit of people who are hearing impaired! Lucky I'm not...hope others after reading this article would understand it!

The Smelly Farts launched from Bukit Jalil:
  • Women Team to be Asia No 1 in 2026 & Qualify to 2028 LA Olympics
  • To win the Asian Champions Trophy 2020
  • To qualify for 2021 Men's & Women's Junior World Cup via Jnr Asia Cup
  • To Win Gold in 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games
  • Top 3 in Asia Cup & to qualify to 2023 World Cup in India
  • Top 10 in 3 years due to Canada only 100 points difference
  • To qualify to 2024 Paris Olympics
Firstly, please read and understand the below facts and then read on my predictions.

Real Scenario at Asia Level:
Teams like India are thinking about finishing podium at Tokyo Olympic and ranked 5th in World Hockey. Why? They won the 2016 Junior World Cup and their pool of talent is immeasurable. Then their Project Squads that plays in yearly Sultan Johor Cup is very impressive and carries outstanding quality International players. Their countless domestic age group competitions and the youth indian hockey players plays non stop as their yearly calendar is well occupied.

Then comes Japan, due to hosting Tokyo Olympics, the government & JHA invested well in their Junior Development program since 2016/2021 Junior World Cup cycle and now paying dividend in their success. They will do well in the next 2022 Asian Games due to the spill over of Tokyo Olympics preparation & exposure.

Pakistan & Korea will remain as dark horses of the tournament as their plan is always based on ad-hoc mode with lack of funding without proper long-term plans.

But you need to remember that China is hosting the next 2022 Asian Games, they may be a force and put a spanner in the work for us. Take this into consideration too.

The below Predictions are done based on current information/processes of World Hockey requirements and looking at policies decision and reviewing all key domestic components of hockey plus the quality of knowledge of Bearers, I came out with this details unless I will be wrong if they start to think outside the box and accepting facts but I doubt it:

2020 Asian Champions Trophy
MHC says Champion
I say maximum a Silver/Bronze Medal - only Continental Rankings

2020/21 Junior Asia Cup
Jnr Men
MHC say to qualify
I say very slim chance as distorted program but they should qualify
Jnr Women
MHC to qualify to 2021 JWC
I say NO

2021 Asia Cup - act as 2023 WC Qualifiers with Top 3 with India
MHC will say Finals & qualify to 2023 World Cup
I say we would qualify due to 16 teams WC and thanks to FIH/AHF providing 3 direct slots for Asia due to Covid19 situation.

Women will be out of World Cup.

2021 & 2023 Jnr World Cup
Jnr Men
MHC would say top 10
I say out of top 10, maybe the best 12th
Jnr Women - no chance due to bad periodization plan

2022 Commonwealth Games
Men
MHC will say Medal
I say maximum Semis without Medal
Women
MHC will say Top 6
I say maximum 7/8 placing

2022 Asian Games
Men
MHC say to win Gold
I say No Gold
Women
MHC say Semis and Medal
I say max top 5

2023 India World Cup
MHC would say Top 8
I say maximum 11/12th position pending grouping announcement

2024 Paris Olympics
MHC says we will qualify
I say NO

Top 10 in World Rankings
MHC said in 3 years as previously said Top 8 in 2018 but failed miserably.
I say we will drift from 11th to 13th after Tokyo Olympics and tough to break into top 10 with current team.

From 2020 till 2022 - Malaysian Men will only play matches at Importance Level from 1 to 6 as missed out on Tokyo Olympics. When in 2023 Men's World Cup, then Malaysian Team will play event level 10, which is 3 years away, therefore, MHC must be aware of this predicaments and plan accordingly.

As for Women team is in the similar position and forever they will play events from level 1-6 unless they qualify to Olympics or World Cup, which is tough to achieve it.

Only condition to be in top 10, we have to win 2022 Asian Games;into QF stage in 2023 World Cup, play in FIH Pro League and finish top 4, winning many test matches with top 8 teams. But currently, no chance to get  high quality official matches due to busy schedule of top 10 teams - Tokyo Olympics and Pro League with Continental Championship.

Only Championship available is Sultan Azlan Shah Cup & Continental Championships, FIH Nation Cup (postponed) with some official test matches. That's all and is insufficient to be Top 10 in 3 years. Why shooting your feet again. So playing with teams with Pakistan, Japan, Korea and China will benefit them more than us except against India above ranked than Malaysia.

So the decision makers must be well educated with this new world ranking model based on algorithm.

I concur with Roelant Oltmans saying that we will never win Gold in 2022 Asian Games and no to qualify to 2024 Paris Olympics. Agreed - We do not have a good international quality team to qualify & play in Olympics. This is the facts.

But I disagree with Oltmans is when he was appointed after the failure to win the 2018 Asian Games, he should have said that we would not qualify to Tokyo Olympics but I do not blame him as Bearers were in very desperate mode to qualify as they have promised the Nation that they will quit if failed to Tokyo Olympics but U-Turned.  Due to lack in knowledge and limitation in international hockey processes they decided to engage him at all cost but failed.

Gentle Reminder - never allow players to dictate who should Coach them, and custodian is repeating this again and is a very dangerous & suicidal approach. Also never take domestic achievements as a criteria for naming National Coaches as our MHL is in pathetic stage and has lost its key objectives.

As of today, cosmetic changes again, address the real issue - produce international players not National players. Go back to ground zero and start building all over again but no, still launching smelly farts and lying to public. Not good enough just say not good lah and what are you all doing to achieve it. That's all!

What was Stephen Hawkins last words? System failure...And now stop blaming Terry/Oltmans & other 7 Consultants again but who made the decision should be accountable. All above are true and fair prediction for the term of Bearers till 2024. Don't say I didn't warn you all as I did for the last 5 years...
